John McLaughlin

Die weltbekannten Musiker John McLaughlin und Zakir Hussain, traten am 14. Februar gemeinsam mit der Gruppe REMEMBER SHAKTI in Ramallah, (palästinensische Gebiete) auf. Es war ein Benefizkonzert zugunsten der WFD-Partnerorganisation Al-Mada.


McLaughlin beschreibt das Konzert in Ramallah als das am Schwersten auf die Beine zu stellende Konzert seiner Karriere. Nach mehreren Jahren der Organisation war die Musik im Nu vorbei. So werden wir an die Flüchtigkeit der Musik erinnert, aber auch an ihre andauernde Macht. Al Mada und seine Schützlinge werden ermutigt, wenn McLaughlin sagt: “Die Palestinenser brauchen uns genau wie wir sie brauchen. Und wenn ich es einmal geschafft habe, dann komme ich auch wieder“. Hoffentlich, denn sein Besuch gab ein gerüttelt Maß an Inspiration und Hoffnung für AL Mada, seine Unterstützer und Nutznießer.

Jeff Halper, Thursday 24th February 2011

Jeff Halper is an American-born Israeli Professor of Anthropology as well as a peace and human rights activist for over three decades. In 1997, he co-founded the Israeli Committee Against Home Demolitions (ICAHD), and as its Coordinating Director "organized and led nonviolent direct action and civil disobedience against Israel's occupation policies and authorities."

Michael Bröning

On the occasion of the publication of Dr. Michael Bröning's "The Politics of Change in Palestine: State-Building and Non-Violent Resistance (Pluto Press)". The Bookshop at the American Colony-Jerusalem had invited to a discussion with Dr. Michael Bröning, Ha'aretz journalist and author Amira Hass and Dr. Mahdi Abdelhadi, Head of PASSIA who had presented the book and moderated the discussion Thursday June 9th,2011 at 7pm Pasha Room-American Colony Hotel.


Dr. Michael Bröning is Director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation(FES) in the Palestinian Territories and previously represented FES in Jordan and Iraq. He has written on Middle East politics in Foreign Affairs, New Statesman, Der Spiegel and Die Zeit. Dr.Bröning completed his education in Economics, Social Sciences, History and International Relations in Germany and the United Kingdom. In addition to his responsibilities as director. he is a member of the editorial board of International Politics and Society.

Jerusalem Ka3ek Festival

Ayesha Al Quds cordially invited to participate in its launching event, the “Jerusalem Ka3ek Festival” on Sunday October 23rd 2011 at Dar il Tiffel School in Sheikh Jarrah.


Ayesha is an independent group of young Jerusalemites aspiring to introduce new life to our beloved city of Jerusalem. Our launching event will be the Jerusalem Ka3ek Festival that is open for the general public – children, students and adults alike – to come and enjoy the sounds and flavors of Jerusalem during a one day festival.

Gabriele Feigl, der Botschafter a.D.
